Hello Llama Money, welcome to The Wisdom Journal. Thanks for commenting.

I agree. Building morale should be at the top of most manager's lists and is a major reason many fail.

#2 is great - good morale is a huge part of enjoying your work, and thus being more productive. When the boss is cultivating this, everyone's happier, and gets more work done. If you have people working for you, take heed to #2 even if you ignore the rest.

Those are very good and you are right on target. The inability to delegate as well as being a micro manager should have been on my list. You made some great points.

I also agree with you on avoiding the career growth topic for employees. Very few people are interested in staying at the same career level for any length of time. A manager that hopes to keep the same crew for the rest of his or her career is doomed.

A long one. I went through some of the ones in detail and some ones by topic. You've almost covered most of the topics. I think of the following qualities
1. ImProper delegator: One who cannot delegate jobs (properly) to his or her employees.
2. Sometimes managers can become micro managers which some employees may not like. In some industries managers are meant to be only people managers rather than being technical for example.
3. Not talking about career growth for employees.

Let me know your thoughts.
