While I agree generally with these points, I guess I'm in the other 1% when it comes to "Choices."

I'm on disability and only finally able to start working part-time. And it takes *a lot* out of me. My husband has the most severe eczema most doctors have ever seen, and it cost him his job. (Currently, we're going through the Dept of Vocational Rehab to figure out what he can do.)

We have been in debt since we met, between medical bills, dental bills (all the steroids for eczema killed his teeth, $7k right there), missed work and student loans. We're managing to pay it down, despite living on a combined $3k/month. But choice has had very little to do with our situation.

That said, you are right that attitude is responsible for a lot. We don't always manage to stay positive -- frankly, we'd be in denial if we were always rainbows and sunshine -- but we know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And it's not an oncoming train, either! We will get out of debt, it just may take longer than we'd like. And we may never earn as much as we'd like to. But we can still have a good life.

I was just discussing this (getting to know yourself) yesterday with a friend. We came to the conclusion that there is a lot that happens in a person's life between 18-30 years old which represents a lot of change.

That being said, I've learned a lot about myself from some the works of Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy and Michael Gerber.
