You pretty much summed up all the things that I learned from his life. I was just beginning to realize that Michael didn't have a right childhood. He was made to work at an early age, and he missed out on all the fun. And even as he grew older, he was criticized for acting weird and having a chimp as a friend. Well, only childish people would think about doing that. In a way, Michael was trying to live the childhood that he missed.
And he will be missed, as well. :(

Love the analogies in this post. One in particular...

"When you consciously decide to create an aura of mystery around yourself, rather than just BE yourself, you lose sight of who you really are. Once you lose sight of that, you can be convinced of almost anything."

I always thought he wasn't being true to himself and was trying desperately to please others. He definitely had charisma and personality, especially as a child. It's too bad he never really got the hang of being an adult.

I loved Michael's music. He has created revolutionary change in pop culture which will be echoed for many years. The manner in which he conducted his life was very unfortunate. A child with the level of abuse at home he claimed Joe Jackson provided him, was alone enough to turn most non celebrities into poorly adjusted members of society. The sensationalized public lifestyle he led from his preteen years which distorted any sense of how the world really operates, causing him to live in a place where he confused attention for love and was accustom to getting what he wanted with immediacy without having to ever truly focus on the appropriateness or consequence of his request, ultimately led to his demise. Whether it was the immediacy of people paying attention, or attaining rare art and toys, or feeling relaxed at any cost, his appetite to fill his soul was never-ending because true fulfillment only lay within.

The only true antidote that Michael Jackson never got that would cure all his woes was courage and self-honesty. It takes courage to be honest with ones self. There is no drug company in the world that can prescribe it, no crowd in the world that can give it, no painting so rare that can provide it. Spending a whole life running from the man in the mirror turned a life set to be a great thriller into a dangerous tragedy.

He will be missed, although his music will forever.

Definitely you've withdrawn some very interesting life lessons from the life of Michael Jackson. No doubt, the man had issues, and I think you've done a good job isolating what we can learn from those issues. The tabloids on the other hand are doing the exact opposite...

Obviously there have been a lot of posts/articles/etc. about MJ over the past few days, but this is by far my favorite. You're not just talking about his life but you're taking lessons away from his experiences which is really awesome. This was great to read and I really learned a lot from it. Thanks for sharing your lessons with us!
