i totally agree with this post. i also did a post on this but in a different format.
There is a saying that ignorance is bliss. This is true but only for a while. It may be bliss not to know that a catastrophe is coming because one does not have to take precautionary measures and better still one does not have to lose precious sleep worrying about the consequences of the imminent disaster. But as your head is still in the dust the rest of you is dangerously unprotected and the catastrophe is still coming

It is totally shocking and at times heart breaking that people seem to show such a low level of prudence in their lives particularly in the important matters like financial security. I am sure that many of you have heard about that study that was conducted that showed that most lottery winners, inheritance beneficiaries etc run broke in a very short time after acquisition of the wealth. Why is this? Is it that there are some people doomed to poverty and others meant to control most of the world’s resources? Or is it that the controllers possess knowledge about money management that the rest of the masses do not or are too lazy to look for that information? Personally I think that it is the latter.

As we the young people are growing up, instead of looking into the future and planning for it, we are caught up in too much entertainment and other forms of extravagances. They may seem harmless at the time but as time goes by, habits of poor money management are formed and we all know how hard they are to break. Without realizing it, youth is out the door and all that we have to show for it are hard to break behaviors. These are not far-fetched philosophies that I came up with. All you have to do is look up the Alexa details for personal finance websites. You will notice that the people who read these personal finance blogs and websites are people well into adult hood.

Many of the richest people in the world did not start with a boatloads of money but a firm financial base and a long term plan for the little money they made initial and in due time turned them into mind blowing fortunes.
Getting control of a part of your life that is very important and avoiding the familiarly uncomfortable and nagging problem of overdue bills and an underserviced retirement plans.
I believe that is imperative that people take control of their financial lives instead of acting like gullible little children and turn our hard earned money to financial experts like Benard Madoff.
Ignorance is bliss? Only for a time. If you looked up and faced the oncoming disaster, it could be avoided or maybe subverted. But ignorance, self denial and procrastination always ensure that you face the full force, and suffer the most extreme of consequences of unprepared for disasters. And the funny thing with this sort of problems is that they strike at the most unexpected times with the most brutal of forces.
Put your house in order before it is too late. It is for your own good because after all is said and done you and the people close to you are the ones to take the full effects of all your decisions, no matter good or bad.

this is a really creative way of posting btw :)

Awesome! Apathy is exactly right, and is a close cousin to laziness.

I have found that the best way to kill off apathy is to set goals. Actually writing down goals and keeping them in front of you daily is a huge help.

Very good! I love posts like this. I battled with apathy for several years before I decided, " who's really going to help me here?" The answer kept coming back the same, nobody. I had to decide for myself and put those decisions into actions, then complete those actions. "I'll do it later" never got anything completed.
Thanks for the great reminder of how we want to be, and why we should not be.
