I would add, though, in both personal and counseling experience, (and in response to the comment from your previous post) that the reality is that the biggest raises are, unfortunately, in moving to other organizations.  Once a person gets on the &quot;COLA treadmill&quot; they seem to be herded along with the rest of the sheep, unless, of course, they get a major promotion, etc.

Of course, there are exceptions to this.  And there is a reality that jumping ship may lead one from the frying pan to the fire.  But in an age where loyalty may get you (and your boss) to noon, jumping ship must be on the table as an option.</description>
