Yes, people do forget the purpose of MBWA. In times past, managers sat in their offices and made everyone come to them. Today&#039;s savvy manager walks around and listens to customers and employees. He is engaged, interested, and participates in the operational processes. He helps customers. He answers the phone. 

In short, he actually manages by becoming a part of the organization rather than just a supervisor that watches what happens then complains about it.

Your notes on MBWA are correct. Too many times managers tend to think that just walking around means they are MBWA. Remember the &quot;M&quot; means management. You have to use your points of being information focused, authentic, and collaborative. Too many times, managers only do the walking around part and leave off the managing.</description>
