Posts have been a little light, but my family and I have been without electricity for the past 10 days because of the recent ice storm that came through on Jan 27th. We have an all electric home (hot water, heat, stove, etc) but thankfully, we have a propane fireplace. I was able to get it up and running just 2 days before the storm hit! Thank God!

This afternoon, at 4:45PM, our lights came on and the heat pump began pumping heat again. I was able to buy a generator a few days ago and we did have some limited ability to cook, but we lost several hundred dollars in food that was in our refrigerator and freezer.

This weekend I’ll post some pictures of the damage and how much this natural disaster cost us. It wasn’t cheap.

Did I mention how great a hot shower is? I’ve learned that I take a lot of things for granted. I need to work on that.

In the meantime, I’m going to sleep in my own bed, warm, and toasty. We’ve been sleeping on the floor and on the sofa in front of the fireplace so my own bed is looking pretty good.
