Regarding #3, your fraternity or sorority will have an alumni organization too.

Regarding #7, I highly recommend joining a Toastmasters club. Yes, it's a public speaking organization, but you spend most of your time listening and learning. I've made several contacts and found several job leads whenever I was searching. Each club is different. I urge you to check out as many as you can within reason and practicality.

You may not aspire to be a public speaker or even a presenter, but the truth is, you're always presenting and speaking.

When you join niche groups, the chance of meeting like-minded people increases. It takes a certain kind of person to join Toastmasters, although the organization is open to everyone.

What an excellent post. I just stumbled it! You point out some really good ideas.

I have to agree that Linked-In is a great way to network. Social Media is another wonderful networking tool. Social Sites such as Myspace, BlogCatalog, and StumbleUpon can be very beneficial if you use them properly!
