Very refreshing. In raising my now 16-year old son I have come to despise the feel-good crap that is presented at every level. I worry that this generation of kids will have a hard time adjusting to reality once they get out from underneath the protection of the school system and the parents. The children that have been raised with a real set of expectations and have an aptitude for learning along with a work ethic will easily stand out and reap big benefits in the form of opportunities.

Talk about truth. Wow! Good on them! I love this and only hope that this teaching would spread like wildfire...and that my grandchildren would be able to take part in something like this. Anything that is NON PC, is worthwhile to our young generations coming after us!

Our new economy is helping peope to reassess values and spending patterns. And, as you astutely put it not everyone can "take home a prize." However, it is going to be a painful readjustment for a generation who grew up with entitlement complexes.

Well isn't that refreshing. I agree completely with you. The satisfaction that comes from doing something with all your heart can be just as tangible as a plastic trophy or colored ribbon. Kids rarely have the opportunity to experience that these days. BTW, sounds like a great camp!
