Roundup and Link Love: Going Fishing With My Boy Edition

by Ron

Fishing on the Spring River

Yeah, that’s him catching an 18 inch rainbow trout on the Spring River just a few months back. We love to go fishing together and he gets really focused when there’s trout, a good cold river, and a fishing pole in the equation! I love to see him focused on something and he loves to focus on fishing. We’ll be heading back there on Saturday and plan to take a co-worker and his two sons. I know we’ll have a great time!

While we’re pulling in the fish, here are some links I enjoyed last week that I’d like to share with you.

Old is New Again! @ PT Money. PT (courtesy of his wife) discovered that it was pretty cheap to get something fixed rather than throw it out and buy new. What do YOU have that could be fixed?

5 Tips to Avoid Overdraft Fees @ My Dollar Plan. Nothing irks me more than bank fees, especially the ones that result from my own stupidity. If you want to avoid overdraft fees FOREVER, be sure and follow Madison’s advice on how.

Where to Park Car Savings @ Frugal Dad. Jason examines the pros and cons of different places to temporarily “park” your savings for a new vehicle. Yes, the pun was intended!

Kid’s Habits: Prepare Your Child for a Great Life @ My Supercharged Life. Jeff asks one really hard question – What habits are you teaching your kids? Lectures don’t work nearly as well as setting an example. I know I have a long way to go in that department.

Who’s In Your Heart? @ LifeVesting. Sometimes we forget that our heroes were and are real people with real struggles. Andy hits the nail on the head when he asks “Who’s in your heart?” by showing us how to be reminded of some important people in our lives … and why we feel that way about them.

How to Deal with a Bad Deal @ Five Cent Nickel. Few things are as disconcerting as realizing you’ve been had, but Nickel gives us some great advice in case you were – and some ways to prevent it in the future.
