Let's face it: despite many people's protestations to the contrary, too many folks have an automatic trust of government. When there is a problem, many of us don't like to think of government as the problem but as the solution. Add to that the near phobia that many have about economics as business and what do we get? Pretty much what we have now: a government going billions of dollars IN debt in attempts to get the economy OUT of debt, We get a government doing such idiotic things as bailing out companies for whom bankruptcy is imminent and buying up banks.

My husband and I went on an Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon 2 years ago. It was awesome! We went on the Holland America line, which from what I understand, is a little more upscale than say, Carnival or Royal Carribean.

It was seven nights and we sailed round-trip from Seattle. Ports of call included Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, Victoria B.C., and one day in Glacier Bay.

Beautiful scenery! Amazing, truly.

So peaceful, and the food was the best I've ever had.

There's lots to do on board, and you can also just plain relax. The ship I was on had a few pools and one of them was under a retractable roof, so you could swim even though it was too cool to swim outdoors.

We didn't do any paid excursions -- we just wandered about each port city on our own. It was a lot of fun!

Email me if you have any questions or would like to see some photos of our trip.
