I love the gift giving tradition of "one you want, one you need, one to wear and one to read." That's fabulous! I've heard of the Magi tradition before, but I really like the other one. It gives you focus.

Something our family always did at Christmas, or just before New Year is write on a table cloth. We had a special table cloth (white) that we would each draw a picture of the one thing that meant the most to us for that year.

We stopped doing it for a few years. I actually really miss it. But things change. Very traditional-like I found though. Definitely something I'll do with my family some day (first I have to get married!).

What kids and adults need is not always what they express they want. My kids love stuff and will ask for everything they see. I love stuff. I want every gadget and technology I can get my hands on.

That being said, the things that make me and my kids happy are the time we spend together and the traditions we are establishing. My daughter loves toys, but she also loves both real and pretend cooking. She has had a blast helping to make Christmas desserts for our family, friends and neighbors. She is already looking forward to our Christmas Day baby Jesus birthday party.

This is right in line with our family's holiday plan this year ... and it has been lovely. We've done lots of homemade things and plan to enjoy a lot of family time.
