We followed Dave Ramseys Total Money Makeover and we are now Debt Free thanks to a BIG income tax return and years of self control aand saving! ( We do still have our mortgage, a small personal loan that we are attacking and my husband truck loan that we to are attacking and will have then 2 paid off in 6 months) It feels so wonderful not oweing credit card companies money every month and being able to go grocery shopping or shopping in general and not worring about how much we spent. We have money left over every month and our checking account is in great shape! Our savings, even better shape! I have never had this much money in liquid form every in my life and I just LOVE IT! I am the happiest i have ever been in my entire life and I am only 27 about to be 28 in April. We have 2 beautiful kids who I am finally about to save for there future now. Just a few years ago I had to borrow money from them to pay the bills. Now we have paid back everything that we borowed from them times 3! I felt horrible doing that cuz they are only 8 and 3 but we had to do what we had to do to survive. I'm also glad we had our familes there to support us and push us to do what we set out to do! You need support to keep you going in times like this. If you have no support you have to find it somewhere. I also pat myself on the shoulder for reading all the books known to man about Money, personal finance ect. Anything that had to do with budgeting, saving and paying off debt. It helped me to figure out how to get out of the mess we created. The thing that always suprised me was how quick and easy it was to get into a huge amount of debt ( $150,000 to be exact) and how it takes so long to get out of it. I am a very impatient person so this was extremly hard for me, but it taught me to wait for the things you want in life. This year me and my husband will finally be able to buy 2 newer used cars with cash! I can't wait cuz the dealership we work with has always found financing for us and given us great deals and when we go in there with cash I'm sure we will get even better deals! I can't wait. I've been waiting FOREVER for a Lincoln Navigator and now I will finally have my black beauty and not have to ever make a payment on her! And my husband will be able to have his Ford F 150 King Ranch crew cab with no payments. ( We do have to do them 1 at a time but oh well We are getting what we want and that's all that counts!!!) I wish everyone all the luck in the world on being debt free. The economy would prosper more if everyone was debt free and we would have alot more happier people in this world!
