		<description>Great post. All points about credit are potent. The hard part for me (and harder for my wife) is that we live without using credit, while we watch our friends participate in all the areas you describe...they seem rich behind the credit facade.</description>

I think the standard of living is going to decline in the coming years.  It&#039;s been coming for a long time, really, even before people got stupid with debt.  All the politicians have been doing for years is applying bandages to delay the inevitable.  I recommend anyone with some time to spare watch a video called &quot;Fiat Empire&quot; on YouTube.

I&#039;ll also argue that inflation has made the $75,000 cut off for middle class ridiculous and the fact that more people make that is pretty meaningless.  There are a lot of areas where that doesn&#039;t even get you close to qualifying for a podung house.</description>
