The Unfair Advantage
I had the opportunity of going to the PGA Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta back in 1999. We only had tickets for the next to last last day, but I vividly remember seeing Vijay Singh come off the course that beautiful Saturday. While other players were giving interviews, signing autographs for my wife, [...]
The Difference Between a Handout, a Bailout, and a Gift
A few days ago, I wrote how children learning to manipulate their parents and inadvertently come to believe that money has no end because when parents say “We don’t have the money,” or “We can’t afford it,” money seems to magically appear if the child is convincing enough. Children learn that a good enough story, [...]
When You Come To A Fork In The Road
So many times, I’m in the middle of a certain project or task and I come to a point where I have to make a decision. I’ve been asked to present some information on customer service at my company’s annual meeting, so I have a lot of information to wade through and several decisions to [...]

My first experience with credit was during the Christmas season of my freshman year in college. I went to a local department store and bought some gifts for my mom, dad, and little brother. Though I was fully prepared to pay cash, I was offered an ‘in store” credit card on the spot. The clerk told me that I had a $100 limit and that my payments would be around $10. I remember thinking, “Are you kidding me? This is great!” I reasoned that $10 was nothing and by doing this, I would save some cash for going out to eat. Besides, it was cool to flip out the plastic.
Things I DIDN’T Learn in College: Part 1 - Networking
Want to learn how to network, but aren’t sure where to begin? Here are some tips that will help you take the needed steps to become a networking machine. Interestingly, though networking is touted as an important skill to help you get ahead in life, it wasn’t taught at any college I attended (I went to three from undergraduate school through graduate school). Perhaps others have different experiences at different schools and colleges. If that is YOU, please leave a comment about the school you attended and a summary of what you learned from your networking course there.
