Because I live in a tax-your-property-and-leave-your-income-alone state, it costs me $750 a month to live in the house I’m in – IF the thing was COMPLETELY paid for. Talk about your “hidden costs!”

1. My house has been paid off for ten years (and I’ve only lived in it for 15), and it is not a McMansion.
2. I drive an 11 year old Subaru. I have a great relationship with it – I turn the key, and it starts. That’s all the relationship you need with your car.
3. No children, no private schools.
4. Guilty on vacations – you have to have some fun in life, otherwise, what is it for? Oh, I have NEVER paid for a vacation (or anything else, except for a brief mortgage) on time. It’s not that hard, folks.

My SO is very much into cars and love to add after market modifications to the one we have. Its more of a hobby than anything else, but it still costs money. We had two but sold one recently so at least we don’t have that extra expense.
